"Try...'Sharon, Lois & Bram,' and watch pre-schoolers' eyes light up from coast to coast." L.A. Times

The ELEPHANT SHOW is an award winning music education series that teaches reading readiness and social skills while delighting and engaging children in making music.

Each half-hour program explores a new theme through adventure, fantasy, mystery, and song with North America's best loved children's recording artists, Sharon, Lois & Bram. Already a favorite with children, the series has strong educational value for the classroom. Sharon, Lois & Bram use primarily traditional materials which stress participation: action songs, sing-along songs, story songs, clapping songs, singing games, play-ground chants and rhymes, and folk songs from many different traditions.

The repertoire includes:

Songs that build language skills (by the use of rhyming, echoing, counting, naming colors, animals and parts of the body, and by use of narrative);

Songs that build physical skills (teaching clapping patterns, miming, finger play, and simple dances);

Songs that develop healthy social attitudes (of sharing, loving, respecting, and enjoying cultural differences);

Songs that nourish and stimulate the imagination;

Songs to sing for the love of singing.

TEACHER'S GUIDE

Each videocassette is accompanied by a teacher's guide co-authored by a teacher and a music education specialist. Each guide includes music and lyrics, a curriculum-based discussion guide, and activities for social studies, language arts, and art.
