Produced by Kelli Bixler
Helen Harrington is a poet and farmer from Iowa whose work
celebrates the earth and the self. Her inspiration comes from
the reality and practicality of farm life as well as the
endless possibility and nobility of the human spirit: "There
is more of you, and of me, than what we are. Somewhere beyond
our view... ." Harrington's poetry reflects a yearning to
understand our purpose, our role with each other, with time,
and with the world around us.
This is a visual essay with graceful poems set before a
backdrop of striking nature sequences, laced with insightful
comments from Harrington. The viewer is given the opportunity
to really hear, feel and appreciate her poetry, as well as
meet a living poet who is able to communicate her passion for
living and writing.
Awards: Birmingham International Educational Film Festival;
Silver Images Film Festival
- "Raising questions of who we are, why we are here, and where
we'll go, Harrington sustains herself by appreciation of the
earth and her relationships. The aesthetically filmed nature
sequences are a perfect accompaniment to this poet's message."
