TURN HERE SWEET CORN is a video essay about food, memory and
the land... just before the shopping mall arrives. It strikes a
deep chord in anyone concerned with the tragic loss of prime
farmland to suburban sprawl. More video essay than straight
documentary, this program takes as its point of departure the
struggle of the Diffleys, a family of organic farmers in Eagan,
Minnesota, a town now firmly within the spreading grasp of the
twin cities of Minneapolis-St. Paul. After 150 years of admirable
land stewardship, the Diffleys are forced to sell their farm, The
Gardens of Eagan, to developers. The program interweaves the
particulars of their story with more general contemplation of such
topics as the relationship between producers and consumers of
food, the eviction of a vibrant rural culture into the realm of
memory, and the future of our food supply.

situations in their own suburban-farm borderlands... Highly
recommended." ***** Video Rating Guide for Libraries
- "This is the kind of tape which can fundamentally change how
you view the world. As an urbanite, it made me feel much closer to
the land." Media Network
