Produced by the National Film Board of Canada/A film by Kevin
Matthews
Groundwater is the earth's largest supply of clean water, but
it is fast becoming the catch-all for much of our pollution. This
National Film Board of Canada production offers a penetrating look
at the poisoning of our underground water supplies and the
devastating consequences for people whose drinking water comes
from beneath the earth.
The film examines how four families and two communities in
Canada and the U.S. responded to the discovery of toxic chemicals
in their water. Through their stories the human hardships
associated with this increasingly common form of pollution are
brought home in a personal way.
Yet the message of the film is one of hope and empowerment. The
courage and determination of these people in insisting on their
right to safe water may still resolve the environmental crisis
that is threatening us all. With Study Guide
